Well Spanked Man

I’ve read longingly as a few other spanking bloggers mention the end of Winter, but here in the high desert (or alpine valley which it is also) Spring has come all too late. We just had what I hope is our last snow storm, its been an uncommonly harsh Winter, and its sunny and warm and distinctly no longer Winter. Yippie!

We often go on hikes, and of course on a goodly portion of those hikes your’s truly gets a switching. Going through my hard drive I found this picture from one of those hikes two summers ago in the nearby mountains. Wow! When that picture was taken I had no idea that we’d be making spanking videos, and even now starting a small membership site.

We just got back from a long and grueling weekend of shoots. This after a few days of car problems. I really did fuck up the brakes, which was the subject of one of my 3 good hard spankings for the shoots. I also got a couple quick light spankings when we ran around the city for an occasional break. We took some photos for Twilight’s phone gig, and shot a little other fetish content for a webmaster I met on a forum I am on. That shoot was odd, but fun I suppose, and it helped to cover the location and travel expenses even if it wasn’t really our thing. The clip store is helping too but we aren’t quite breaking even yet, and that is before equipment costs. But we are getting closer to starting up the paysite, and I am really psyched about that.

I am also proud of how our videos are coming along. I studied photography years ago in college, but this project is the first real video project either of us have done. Already, I feel we are producing very good work and without the deficiencies I believe plague most F/m spanking porn. We are hoping to have a model call soon, to get an occasional shoot for the site with a fresh face. Yes, all talent will show faces, and actually all talent will be paid too… which is fair but NOT standard as Prefectdt and Pandora Blake have both recently blogged.

I recently read a blog post at Creative Coaching Concepts asking “Is Spanking Spiritual?”. What a wonderful time to ask that question! Lenten whipping was just in the news, with the Philippine government requested that Lenten self-flagellants inspect their scourges before whipping themselves, lest they develop infections in their wounds. Since the early middle-ages, various Christian sects have flagellated themselves to celebrate the crucification of Christ, who according to their scripture was whipped before being nailed to the cross. They viewed the pain as a form of penance for their sins, and even scourged themselves in public and on pilgrimages from town to town. While monks thrashing themselves in hair-shirts might be a bit squicky, I’ve seen a nice adult cartoon of a pert-breasted nun whipping herself. Even acclaimed surrealist artist, Max Ernst, got into the religious spanking act, with a famous painting of the Virgin Mary spanking the childhood Jesus on his bare butt. Self flagellation continues to this day in many parts of the world, and I once knew a monk in the States who actually whipped himself with a scourge tipped in nails (eek!)

Religious whipping predates Christianity, and was used for spiritual purposes by many ancient religions including the Cult of Isis in Egypt and later the Roman Empire, and the Dionysian cults in Greece. Indeed I can easily imagine drunken debauchery in the woods, cult members reveling in the kiss of the lash.

Most famous of all religious whipping is the Lupercalia, an ancient Roman festival to purify the city and enhance fertility. Ancient fertility rituals varied, but always had a sexual undertone, if not outright sexual acts in the fields. In the Lupercalia naked young women were lashed upon the breasts and buttocks as they ran to increase their own fertility.

In more modern times Neopagans and Wiccans use flagellation in initiation, purification and sex magick rituals. Gardnarian and Alexandrian Wicca both ask of an initiate that they be willing to suffer to learn, and this may be literally enacted through ceremonial whipping. Ritualistic sex magick can go even further with pain (and pleasure) used to build magickal energy.

In Miss Francy’s original post, her curious questioner was specifically concerned with Buddhism and the concept of causing no hurt in the world. I am not a Buddhist and can not speak with any authority on how this might be compatible with their tenants, but I am a Neopagan priest, and I can say that spanking and bdsm can be practiced in full accordance with my church’s doctrine. There is a long history of flagellation among spiritual devotees, and if one expands the concept further to include any infliction of pain for spiritual purposes several books could reasonably be filled with examples spanning the globe.

While browsing various blogs this morning, I came across a wonderful F/m spanking story at Malflic, Tempting Sensations, and Lust, entitled Teaching Him a Lesson

“I’d stop laughing if I was you. Since you find a way to work the word spanked into every conversation possible I figured it was time to address your interest.” He was now sitting up and taking notice, she had his attention but it might not exactly what he was thinking.

I found this bit particularly interesting. At university I studied, among several other majors, psychology. One thing we learned is that in sexual situations an individual often plays at performing a behavior which  they would like done upon themself. And while this example falls well short of the  kind of good communication required in any spanking relationship, it was an icebreaker.

Breaking the ice with a prospective spanking partner is often the hardest part. While I have been married for over a decade, I did have other spanking partners prior to my wife. Actually, I can’t think of any girlfriend or sexual partner who did not spank me, and often I spanked her as well. What I did was to “pre-qualify”  my partners of old.

Unfortunately this was not as easy as it is for credit card companies, but it did save much frustration down the road. For those who do not know, capzasin cream is an arthritis relief medicine made with the active ingredient in hot peppers. This stuff is hot, and getting in on your skin can burn.

Some spankos, Twilight and I included, use this stuff for spanking purposes. I occasionally see this referenced on other blogs and on forums. Spankings hurt and “the cream” makes them hurt even more and leaves a sore and burning bottom for up to a couple of hours. It is not a normal part of the discipline repertoire, rather its something special for occasions when a good spanking is just not enough to teach the lesson.

I was surprised to read a bad report on the use of capzasin cream for spankings recently at Span Co.  It seems he did not like the effects at all, which I suppose is the point;

Now, I am not easily impressed but what happened next is difficult to describe. I was so uncomfortable that I could not stand still. This is real discomfort. After about twenty minutes of dancing around waiting for the pain to subside I dashed into the shower and turned the cold water on my ass.

If it is true that the wise learn from other’s mistakes, please be wise and DO NOT DO IT.

Dancing around in the discomfort of a continuously burning ass is the whole point of using the cream. It worked great, though,yes it does make you learn from your mistakes.

As a side note, if for some reason you need to remove it, water just makes it worse. It is oily, and if you try you can remove it in the shower to some extent using dish detergent. Lotioning afterwards would also help. I recommend keeping it away from the anus and genitals, insertion could possibly cause a medical emergency.

When I get “the cream” usually it is part of a bath brush spanking. A small line is applied to each well reddened cheek of my bottom, then the cream is rubbed completely in with the flat part of the brush. Be sure it is rubbed in completely, it can splatter and one time it got in Twilight’s eye (ouch!). Then I am soundly spanked on top of the cream. The pain is quite intense, and over the next couple of hours my butt is randomly pinched by my wife who enquires, “Oh, does your poor bottom still burn?”. Sometimes I have to sit with my tanned and creamed butt on a wooden or leather seat, this is especially bad and can be more painful (and for much longer!) than the original spanking.
